Listen to Him
This Sunday, Greg teaches from Luke 9:28-43 where Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up the mountain and is transfigured before them, revealing His glory as Moses and Elijah appear and speak with Him about His coming departure in Jerusalem. In this moment, the disciples are shown that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets, the true and better Moses, the greater Joshua, and the presence of God among His people. Yet the glory revealed on the mountain is inseparable from the suffering of the cross. Jesus shows that the Christian life is not a path around suffering, but through it, as glory and suffering are woven together until the final promised land is reached. The Father’s command is clear: “This is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to Him.” To follow Jesus means trusting Him in the desert, not turning back to what once enslaved us, and believing that even in suffering we are not alone. Christ walks with us, makes us whole, and leads us toward the unfading glory of God.
