This Sunday, Greg Pinkner continues our series on the Book of Acts. Acts 3:11-26 is Peter's second sermon and follows the miraculous healing of a lame man, drawing a large crowd in Solomon’s Portico, where Peter seizes the opportunity to proclaim Jesus as the fulfillment of God’s promises. He connects Jesus to Israel’s history, emphasizing that He is the suffering servant prophesied in Isaiah, the Holy and Righteous One whom they denied and handed over to Pilate, asking instead for a murderer to be released. Peter declares that Jesus, the Author of Life, was raised from the dead by God, and that faith in His name has brought healing and restoration. He calls the people to repentance, promising that their sins will be blotted out and that times of refreshing will come from the Lord. Ultimately, Peter points to Jesus as the fulfillment of God's covenant with Abraham, sent first to Israel to bless them by turning them from their wickedness and inviting them into God’s Kingdom.
