Eyes on the Lord
This Sunday devotional walks through 2 Chronicles 20:1–22, where King Jehoshaphat faces an overwhelming threat with no clear way forward. The passage centers on a faithful response to fear, showing how seeking the Lord becomes the first and most necessary step when anxiety closes in and we do not know what to do. Jehoshaphat models a prayer shaped by humility and trust, openly confessing weakness while fixing his eyes on the Lord rather than the size of the enemy. God responds by reminding His people that the battle belongs to Him and that His presence goes with them even before victory is seen. This story ultimately points beyond Jehoshaphat to Jesus, the true and better King who fought the battle we could never fight and secured our salvation through the cross. As we step into a new year, this devotional invites us to lift our eyes, trust the Lord’s sufficiency, and walk forward with quiet confidence that He is with us.
