Reflection Questions

Listening to the Spirit

Before we participate in any endeavor, we must first learn to listen to God as He guides us. We can use Jesus as a model of how we can be vigilant to what the Father has in store for us. As we begin any encounter, we should explore how we can listen to the Holy Spirit and let Him guide us as we serve and love those around us.
  1. What are the loudest voices in your life right now?  Do you think those voices are saying things the Holy Spirit wants you to hear?
  2. How does the Holy Spirit talk to us?
  3. What are three things you can do to grow in listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit?
  4. Think about what you want the Holy Spirit to reveal to you while you are on mission? What is your heart telling you about your greatest need or area of spiritual growth? Ask Jesus to meet you in that place.

Reflection Questions

Servanthood

Through Jesus’ death and resurrection on the cross we have been forgiven and also offered the right to be called God’s sons and daughters. In Jesus’ earthly life we observe the King of Kings submitting himself as a servant to others.  As His disciples, we are called to follow His example and serve others.
  1. Read 2 Peter 1:4 - This verse presents the idea that we have become like Jesus - we share his nature. What does this mean to you as you think about serving?
  2. Read Mark 10:45 - The verse tells us the nature of Jesus is that of a servant – we share his servant nature. Is serving natural for you, or do you have to remember or plan to do it?  Do you worry about “what” you will do?
  3. Read Ephesians 2:10 – This verse tells us He has created you and prepared you.  Spend time praying this verse for yourself and know that you are prepared to serve wherever you are called.

Being Culturally Aware

Whether we serve in our neighborhood, our city or around the globe we must recognize cultural differences among different people. In an attempt to best serve those around us, we must develop the habit of reflecting and learning about other cultures around us.

Sharing the Gospel

As a Christian we will share that the gospel message was transformational in our lives.  We are called to live out a ‘Gospel-formed’ life, but have we taken the time to learn how to communicate this life altering message to others?

Reflection Questions

  1. What feelings does sharing the gospel invoke in you?  Anxiety? Confidence? Why?
  2. What part of the gospel from this video stood out to you especially?  What might that look like to someone in you are going to encounter globally? How might God be using what was stirred in you to impact someone else?
  3. In the video, Greg shares a few of the main points of the gospel, including grace, dying for the sins of others, faith in who Jesus is, and new life. What might that look like as you are with people in your area of the world?

Reflection Questions

  1. What are specific gifts that I feel God has given me?
  2. Think of a time you got to serve and it was fun.
  3. Who is someone that you see that has really found their calling?
